Look at Her Grow: 4 Months

Happy New Year! My sweet girl is 4 months old today! I can't believe how fast time is going. This has been an interesting month. Izzy's learning and changing so much that I'm having a hard time keeping up!

Growth: We still haven't been back to the doctor yet so I don't exactly know how much she weighs. On my scale (I got on with her and without her and subtracted), she was over 15 pounds. I can't wait to find out. Our appointment is about 2 weeks away so I'll know exactly how much she weighs then. She fits most 3-6 month, but some are still too big. Her little foot can finally fit shoes! Right now, she is a size 1 shoe. I know from experience that she'll go through shoes sizes super fast for a while. We're still in a size 2 diapers.

Development: Everything seems to be on track with her development. She started rolling from her back to her stomach about a week ago. That caused some anxiety for my husband and I because she's still swaddled so it wasn't safe for her to be on her stomach with her arms tied up. We found a solution for that and now we're sleeping peacefully again. She still has a lot to say! She smiles at everyone, laughs out loud, plays with her toes, splashes in the tub, reaches for objects, and tries to bring things to her mouth. She's much more aware of everything around her now. She even gets distracted from nursing sometimes if she sees something out of the corner of her eye or hears something across the room. Almost every day is something new!

Sleep: Oh boy! This was a rough month for sleep. Izzy decided to hit the 4 month sleep regression a little early. I had NO IDEA what was going on so, needless to say, by the time I figured it out I was at my wit's end. She went from sleeping 6-8 hours a night to waking up every 2-3 hours. Finally, after researching blogs and reading about what other moms did, I got her back on track. She's now sleeping 10 hours a night and waking up only once. I'll be doing a separate post about how we got to this point later.

Feeding: We're still breastfeeding. She's a really good eater. We nursed a lot more this month because I was home over winter break, but she had no problem transitioning back to the bottle this week. I also tried rice cereal for a few days, and while it didn't seem hurt anything (no constipation, tummy ache, etc), it didn't help with sleep so I just decided to go back to only breastmilk. She's still not quite ready to be spoon fed because she's still pushing food out with her tongue. I'm not going to rush her. I'm going to wait until she let's me know she's ready (against my grandma's better judgment).

We love you so much baby girl. It's such a joy to watch you grow!
