Look at Her Grow: 8 Month Update

I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that my baby girl is growing up. She's Miss Independent these days whether Mommy and Daddy like it or not! Here's an update:

GROWTH

I'm pretty sure she's not much bigger than she was in the last update, but her feet are definitely growing. I was very surprised to find out that she wears a size 4 shoe when I went to put on her size 3 walking shoes. If I remember correctly, Cameron was wearing a size 4 or 5 shoe at 12 months so it looks like Izzy's going to have a pretty big foot! She's still wearing size 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diapers, and I'm guessing she's still somewhere between 18 and 19 pounds.

DEVELOPMENT

She finally took off and started crawling with her belly off of the ground. She started out slow. She'd go for a few strides, and then finish the trek on her belly, but now there's no stopping her. She's quickly becoming a professional crawler. She's consistently pulling herself up to a standing position on furniture, but she hasn't starting "cruising" yet. I'm sure it won't be long! She's starting to grow her first tooth! I was just beginning to wonder when they'd start coming in, and then I noticed it peeking through just a couple days ago while giving her a bath. She's a little fussy about it, but not nearly as bad as Cameron was. Her favorite word is STILL "Dada". I say "Mama", she says "Dada". Everything is "Dada"! Of course, my husband is thrilled. In addition to dancing to music and clapping her hands, she's learned to wave "bye-bye". It's so exciting to watch her learn new things!

SLEEP

She is still not where I want her, but we did FINALLY, after 7 months, break her from the swaddle. It took one really bad night of crying (and a lot of coffee the next day) to do the trick. The next night she went down swaddle-free without a fight, and the rest is history. She's goes down between 7 and 8, and is still waking up at 11-12 and 3-4. When she wakes up at 11-12ish I let her put herself back to sleep, but I feed her at 3-4 and put her back down until 6 when it's time to get up. Maybe we'll get there soon. *sighs*

FEEDING

As usual, she's a great eater. These days she's having about 2 or 3 formula bottles and baby food while at the babysitter and either baby food or whatever I cooked for dinner (if it is soft enough) at home. She still nurses before bed, in the mornings, and for her 3-4 am feedings, but I only pump maybe 4 or 5 times a week now. She's starting to get good at feeding herself finger foods now, so at snack time we give her Gerber Graduates cereal puffs or yogurt bites. She loves them, and I like that they melt so I don't have to worry about her choking. We'll probably try Cheerios when that tooth finishes growing.

So that's that! As you can see, Izzy is busy as a bee! I can't wait to tell you what she's up to next month!
